Abstract:
In current literature, the operation of a magnetic-coupled multivibrator is usually explained on the assumption of magnetic saturation. Actually magnetic saturation is not a necessary condition for oscillation in such circuits. In the paper, two sets of formulae are developed for a typical multivibrator circuit working under conditions of limited and unlimited amplitude respectively, without introducing the phenomenon of magnetic saturation. Experiment proovs that our analysis is substantially correct and the formulae derived can be used for practical design of multivibrators.
