Abstract:
From the experimental results of eight models of RC portal frames subjected to constant vertical and monotonic horizontal loading, empirical formulas representing the yield curvature and ultimate curvature of section are given. Formulas for calculating the curvature ductility factor of section, displacement ductility factor and strength of frame are presented. Besides, the behaviour of plastic hinge at the member end of RC frame in process of loading is discussed and the empirical formula for calculating the equivalent length of plastic hinge is also given. The presented formulas are in good agreement with the experimentai results.
