摘要:
本文介绍在低强度非均匀磁场中测量各向同性相丝状液晶法拉第效应的方法及结果.从理论上引入横向费尔德常数的概念,导出法拉第旋转角与磁场关系的非线性表达式。运用已有的磁双折射实验结果,估算了为观测到磁场诱导的相变前取向有序对费尔德常数的影响所需要的磁场强度。
Abstract:
This paper presents the method and results of measuring the Faraday effect on isotropic phase of three cyanobiphenyl nematogens at relatively low non-uniform magnetic field. Having theoritically put forward the notion of transverse Verdet constant, a nonlinear expression of field-dependent Faraday rotation angle is obtained. By using the present data on magnetic birefringence, the order of magnitude of external magnetic field, which would give rise to observable field-dependent effect on Verdet constant, is predicted and estimated.
