Abstract:
The torsion of composite beams of steel and concrete and the limit analysis based on the theory of twisted members with thin-walled open section and restraint of warping are discussed. In order to analyze the torsion by the theory of thin-walled member under restricted torsion, the calculated section is transformed into equivalent cross section, and the stress distribution on it is shown while some torque acts on the beams. After that, the approximate analysis methods of upper bound and lower bound are illustrated, the former is simple and suited for design, while the latter is much more complicated. Finally, the two ways are demonstrated by the example.
