Abstract:
A method to measure international roughness index(IRI)based on vehicle vertical dynamic load(VVDL)auto-regressive(AR)modeling is presented. Firstly the VVDL AR model is constructed by using wheel force transducer, then the power spectral density is calculated after Kalman filtering. After the road roughness coefficient is calculated the IRI is finally obtained through concerned equation. The detailed scheme is described and both simulated road and real road experiment were carried out. The simulated road was constructed according to GB 7031—86 specification using AR modeling. The real road experiment was conducted with concrete and pitch road VVDL, in both cases the IRI results are accurate which shows that the method is reasonable and can be applied to road test and grading.
