Abstract:
For the needs of exploiting the ocean resources,the“HY—1” remotely controlled vehicle was developed by Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Academy of Seience of China.The vehicle structure consists of two spherical hulls which are made of alluminium alloy,and there is a large,90—degree acrylic spherical sector window on each spherical hull.Because the pressure- resistant hull will work under water in a depth of about 300m.,the stress analysis of the hull has to be made in order to test its strength.And the finite element method is used for the complexity of the geometric form of the hull.It is found that the results from different finite clement models were in good agreement,and the stress distribution is similar to some exper- imental results available.The stability of the hull is also discussed,and some recommendations on improving the structure of the pressure-resistant hull are made.
