Abstract:
In order to promote planer milling efficiency, the pocket is milled in two operation. In the first operation the major material is cut away rapidly with big tool. In the second operation only the uncut material is milled with little tool while the futile tool trip is avoided. This method can reduce the milling time greatly. In the paper, the location of uncut material is pointed out, the method of caculation of uncut regions is provided and the tool path is generated. The algorithm is realized in the Superman CAD/CAM system. It is proved that the algorithm is stable and reliable. 
