Abstract:
A three-dimensional dynamic model for three-dimensional cutting is established. Based on the analysis of the cutting process dynamics, a new analytical approach for the determination of the dynamic cutting force coefficients from steady state cutting data is developed. The approach is a generalization for a variety of machining systems and cutting conditions. Moreover, the dynamic cutting force coefficients obtained can be considered as more integral data to the present. Comparison with other available methods shows that the dynamic cutting force coefficients in two-dimensional cutting is a special case of the results obtained by this new approach. Finally, the practical examples of both orthogonal and three-dimensional cutting are described. The obtained results confirm the validity of the presented approach.
